Campbelltown City CouncilPopulation forecast

Rural Residential

About the forecast areas

The 2024 population forecast for Rural Residential is 2,525, and is forecast to grow to 28,029 by 2041.

Rural Residential includes the localities of Denham Court (excluding the newly developing East Leppington small area), Gilead (excluding the future release area of Mount Gilead), Holsworthy, Kentlyn, Long Point, part of the locality of Menangle Park (west of the Hume highway), Minto Heights, Mount Annan, Varroville, Wedderburn and Woronora Dam.

The Draft Greater Macarthur Land Release Investigation (which was released for public comment in late 2015 by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment) identified the possibility of future urban development in Gilead (south of the Mount Gilead Urban Release Area). The initial investigations indicate that the Gilead area could have the potential to accommodate in the order of 13,000 residential lots. These figures are indicative only at this stage and are subject to the outcomes of detailed planning investigations. The remainder of the forecast area is predicted to remain non-urban into the future, largely due to environmental constraints.
