The City of Perth population forecast for 2020 is 32,233, and is forecast to grow to 49,107 by 2041.
The City of Perth population and household forecasts present what is driving population change in the community and how the population, age structure and household types will change each year between 2016 and 2041.
The forecasts are designed to provide community groups, Council, investors, business, students and the general public with knowledge to make confident decisions about the future.
These forecasts are based on current demographic trends and development patterns – a ‘business as usual’ trajectory. The forecasts differ to the City of Perth’s population target, which sets a goal of 90,000 residents by 2050. Reaching this goal will require a range of interventions. If these prove effective, development trends will change and the forecasts will track closer to the City’s target in future updates.
These forecasts were last updated in May 2020 by .id, the population experts, on behalf of City of Perth. Forecasts are available for each year from 2016 to 2041.
