The City of Yarra is located in the inner northern and inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne, immediately to the north and east of the Melbourne Central Business District. Yarra City is predominantly bounded by the Yarra River to the east and south; it also borders the Cities of Darebin, Melbourne, Moreland, and Stonnington. As well as the major centres of Fitzroy and Richmond, the City includes the suburbs of Abbotsford, Alphington (part), Burnley, Carlton North, Clifton Hill, Collingwood, Cremorne, Fairfield (part), Fitzroy North, and Princes Hill.
