Northern Hinterland is bounded by the Isis River, the localities of Burrum Heads, Toogoom and Craignish, Pialba-Burrum Heads Road, Christensens Road, Scrub Hill Road, Christensen Street West and the localities of Nikenbah and Dundowran in the north, the locality of Booral, the Great Sandy Strait and the locality of River Heads in the east, the Mary River and the localities of Maryborough, Oakhurst and Dunmora, Powell Creek and the locality of Doongul in the south, and the Bundaberg Regional Council area in the west.
