Lone person households: The maps show the proportion and number of lone person households in each small area of Southern Grampians Shire for 2001 and 2016 and the forecast change. The most significant concentration of lone person households in 2001 was in Coleraine - Rural West and Hamilton (North). This relates to the higher share of older population in the area.
Based on the aging of the population and residential development, all areas are expected to increase the number of lone person households by 2016. The most significant increase is expected in Hamilton (North), Hamilton (East) and Rural East, with the Rural North and Coleraine - Rural West areas anticipating more modest gains in this family type.
